Don’t Choose The Wrong Leader!!!

“But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us.  Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”  When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD.”(1 Samuel 8:19-21) The people decided they wanted a King so that they could be like all the other nations and have someone to fight their battles for them. Later, Israel’s army (led by King Saul) would stand before the Philistine army in terror at the sight of Goliath. Here, as they are choosing to have a King, Israel is forgetting that they serve a GOD who already fights for them, and that serving that GOD is far better than “being like all the other nations”. GOD continues to unfold Israel’s history through the many Kings that follow; and reserves David’s line to reveal His Son Jesus.
